ABC (i365 Day 295) 2.0

Many church leaders speak of ABC of church growth; A stands for attendance, B denotes building and C is cash. When a local congregation has grown in its attendance, it is a good sign of a growing church. If a local church can own a building to house worship and various kinds of ministries, for sure it would enhance its growth. Cash is crucial for church ministry. If church members are generous to offer money to support its operational expenses and missions, it is another sign of a healthy church.

How can you measure the downfall of a church and believer? I can think of a set of ABC’s; A represents aloof, B stands for bigoted, C implies complacent. Let me speak briefly on the complacency of Christians. Jesus Christ rebukes one of the seven churches in the Book of Revelation, and the spiritual problem of this church is complacency.

Let’s ponder the words of Jesus Christ.

Ponder

17For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked. 18I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness may not be seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, so that you may see. (Revelation 3:17–18 ESV)

Pose

Let’s pose a question to God. “Dear Jesus Christ, could You help me to overcome complacency?”

Practice

Let’s practice what you learnt. Pray that you can avoid complacency.

Proclaim

Let’s proclaim to others about your experiential knowledge. Share the lesson of eliminating complacency that you learnt with a non-believer.
