It’s a good thing that people nowadays are more concerned with their health than folks of yesteryear. Not only that, more individuals are willing to spend money on gym membership, so that they can engage in exercising on a regular basis. As for some young and old people who focus on muscle-building training, they are determined to keep up with a good diet and to engage in effective training programmes.
Likewise, the spiritual formation of Christians is like muscle-building. Christians ought to train their spiritual muscles regularly. Also, they should have a proper spiritual diet. The Apostle Paul speaks of how to engage in a healthy programme of spiritual formation in Galatians 5. Let’s ponder his reminder.
Ponder
16So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. (Galatians 5:16–17 NIV)
Pose
Let’s pose a question to God. “Dear God, could You teach me how to walk by the Holy Spirit?
Practice
Let’s practice what you learnt. Pray that you will have the determination of walking by the Holy Spirit.
Proclaim
Let’s proclaim to others about your experiential knowledge. Share your experience of walking by the Holy Spirit with a fellow Christian.
