Children need growth hormone for their normal physical growth. Likewise, any congregation needs love for church growth. Love is crucial for the qualitative and quantitative growth of a local church.
Paul praises the loving deeds of the Thessalonian believers (1 Thessalonians 1:3), but he still prays that they will continue to grow in love (1 Thessalonians 3:12). As love is the expression of Christian life, and it is one of the key elements of church growth and health, it is never enough. Let’s ponder the words of Paul.

12And may the Lord make your love for one another and for all people grow and overflow, just as our love for you overflows. (1 Thessalonians 3:12 NLT)
