You can say whatever you like, but people would eventually find out the truth. You can boast to your friends that you honour your parents very much, but somehow people would find out if it were the case.
Honouring God’s Word isn’t just a slogan, but it’s an attitude coupled with actions. And Nehemiah 8 is a good illustration of my opinion. Let’s ponder Nehemiah 8:5–6.
Ponder
5Ezra stood on the platform in full view of all the people. When they saw him open the book, they all rose to their feet. 6Then Ezra praised the Lord, the great God, and all the people chanted, “Amen! Amen!” as they lifted their hands. Then they bowed down and worshiped the Lord with their faces to the ground. (Nehemiah 8:5–6 NLT)
Pose
Let’s pose a question to God. “God, can You help me to honour Your Word more?”
Practice
Let’s practice what you learnt. Before you read the Bible today, pray for the right attitude coupled with pious actions.
Proclaim
Let’s proclaim to others about your experiential knowledge. Share with a small group member what you experienced in honouring God’s Word.
