Going Viral!

Why do people like their articles, photos or videos go viral? Is it for fun, for fame, or for fortune? To me, going viral is a mindboggling phenomenon that I haven’t had as a kid. Nowadays, there are even people teaching others how to make something go viral. If they really knew how, their teachings would surely go viral. Perhaps, the go viral thing might be seen as a science, an art, or rather, common sense.
Throughout the centuries, Christ followers have tried very hard to make the Gospel known to other people. In today’s terms, they wanted to make the Gospel go viral. Because of that, many believers were being humiliated. Some had been tortured. Numerous of them had ended up as martyrs. Others had successfully led people to become followers of Christ.
Jesus predicts that the Gospel will go viral one day! That’s great, isn’t it? Here are His own words: 14And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. (Matthew 24:14 ESV)
Making the Gospel go viral is not that easy, and it comes with a price tag. It cost Jesus His life on the cross. It cost His followers their efforts, their comfort and even their lives (Rev. 12:11). Jesus wants His Gospel to go viral for one simple reason: the wellbeing of all humankind (John 3:16)!
