On August 28, 1963, Martin Luther King Jr. delivered the renowned speech “I Have a Dream”. During the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, Dr. King called for civil and economic rights and put an end to racism in the United States. In his speech, two words often came up, that is, “one day”. In short, he wished equality would come and racism would end one day. What a wonderful dream!
The Apostle Paul speaks of an awesome scene, which will be completely fulfilled one day, that is, the entire universe will worship Jesus Christ and submit to His sovereignty (Philippians 2:9–11). At the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, this wonderful scenario will appear before our eyes. Let’s ponder the words of Paul again.
Ponder
9For this reason God highly exalted Him and gave Him the name that is above every name, 10so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow — of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth — 11and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:9–11 HCSB)
Pose
Let’s pose a question to God. “Dear Jesus, can You teach me how to worship and honour You?”
Practice
Let’s practice what you learnt. On one hand, pray for the patience to wait for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, and on the other hand, be determined to worship and honour the Saviour.
Proclaim
Let’s proclaim to others about your experiential knowledge. Share with a Christian your new experience and understanding about worship.
