GOAT or Goat? (i365 Day 350) 2.0

In America, GOAT is an abbreviation of greatest of all time. However, in the other side of the world, the British call a stupid person a goat. Normally, a sensible person wouldn’t call himself as the greatest leader of all time. If a woman has self-insight, she wouldn’t identify herself as the greatest of all time (GOAT).

There is a thought-provoking verse in the Book of Proverbs. It says, 18Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. (Proverbs 16:18 ESV) Although the proud might find some success, their stupidity of refusing to listen to good advice would cause their downfall. If a proud person thinks oneself as the greatest of all time (GOAT), he or she might be a goat instead.

God is the origin of humility and Jesus Christ is the perfect example of exhibiting this attribute. Let’s ponder Philippians 2:5–8.

Ponder

5Make your own attitude that of Christ Jesus, 6who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God as something to be used for His own advantage. 7Instead He emptied Himself by assuming the form of a slave, taking on the likeness of men. And when He had come as a man in His external form, 8He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death— even to death on a cross. (Philippians 2:5–8 HCSB)

Pose

Let’s pose a question to God. “Dear Jesus Christ, can I learn from You to be a humble person?”

Practice

Let’s practice what you learnt. Pray that you can learn from Jesus Christ to be humble.

Proclaim

Let’s proclaim to others about your experiential knowledge. Share with a Christian a lesson of humility that you learnt.
