It’s lunchtime and Peter looked around for his lunch box. Oops! He forgot to bring it to work again. Although he blamed himself for his absent-mindedness, he thought to himself, “That’s all right, I can go out for lunch with my workmates, and this is a good excuse that I can tell my wife.”
Several thousands of people followed Jesus around. They wanted to hear him preach. It seemed most of them had forgotten to bring lunch, except a boy. With the boy’s generous offer of five small barley loaves and two small fish, Jesus performed a miracle and fed the hungry crowd of thousands.
Around lunchtime, our hunger will drive us to look for food. At some critical moments of our lives, we are hungry for spiritual fulfilment. The miracle of five loaves and two fish indicates that Jesus can feed a hungry crowd. Not only that, He can feed your hungry soul too! Let’s ponder John 6:9–11.
Ponder
9“Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?” 10Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” There was plenty of grass in that place, and they sat down (about five thousand men were there). 11Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish. (John 6:9–11 NIV)
Pose
