Super Dads (i365 Day 317) 2.0

Ever since I have become a parent, I am more aware of the tremendous responsibilities that I have as a father. Being a father is a holy calling, my duty is to protect my spouse and daughter. I know I should be the provider of my family. Whether I like it or not, I should lead my family by example. Last but not least, I should act as the comforter and supporter of my household.

If you know the life of the Apostle Paul well enough, you realise that he is an excellent preacher, pastor and evangelist. The pastoral ministry resembles much to the duties of fathers, and we recognise Paul is a spiritual super dad! In the epistle to the Corinthian believers, he reminds them that he is their spiritual father, and he has already set a good example for them to follow. Let’s ponder the words of Paul.

Ponder

15For though you have countless guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel. 16I urge you, then, be imitators of me. 17That is why I sent you Timothy, my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, to remind you of my ways in Christ, as I teach them everywhere in every church. (1 Corinthians 4:15–17 ESV)

Pose

Let’s pose a question to God. “Dear God, can You give me the ability of being a better spiritual father?”

Practice

Let’s practice what you learnt. Pray for the ability of being a better spiritual father.

Proclaim

Let’s proclaim to others about your experiential knowledge. Share your pursuit of the ability of being a better spiritual father with a fellow Christian.
