Every Sunday, thousands of domestic workers gather in many parts of Hong Kong. It’s their official day off, they are entitled to rest and socialise with their countrywomen, but on their working days, their employers expect them to work hard. Owing to the social structure of this city, the demand for domestic workers is great. Some fortunate employers are pretty satisfied with the performance of their domestic workers, but some not so fortunate bosses have found their maids lazy and unreliable. Before their bosses, certain domestic workers seem to be working very hard, but when their employers are away, they would goof off right away. Ideally, all workers should be faithful to their employers!
Jesus speaks of many parables and one of them is about stewardship. By means of this parable, He encourages His followers to remain faithful to Him and ready for His return (Luke 12:35–48). A good reminder to all Christians!
Let’s ponder the words of Jesus Christ.
