Heart Surgery (i365 Day 280) 2.0

Millions of people around the world have heart problems. Some heart conditions can be treated with medications, but patients with severe conditions would have to undergo surgeries or even a heart transplant.

Most human problems are complicated and damaging. No one can eradicate hatred, racism and all kinds of social problems by human effort. And that’s why the prophet speaks of our needs for a new heart and spirit. (Ezekiel 18:31) Heart denotes a person’s thinking and attitudes. “Spirit” is about a person’s way of thinking and living (cf. Hos. 4:13). When people turn to Jesus Christ, their heart and spirit will be renewed by the Spirit of God.

Right at the moment a person becomes a Christian, one will immediately become a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). It is the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:5), which He gives followers of Jesus Christ a new spiritual heart. After the spiritual heart transplant, new attitudes and actions will begin to appear in one’s life (cf. 2 Cor. 5:14–15; Rom. 6:4; Eph. 4:23–5:2).

Let’s ponder the words of Paul.

Ponder

17Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! (2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV)

Pose

Let’s pose a question to God. “Dear Jesus Christ, could You help me to effectively live out the new life that You’ve given me?”

Practice

Let’s practice what you learnt. Pray that you can effectively live out the new life that you have in Jesus Christ.

Proclaim

Let’s proclaim to others about your experiential knowledge. Share your new life experience with a seeker in Christ.
