The Art of War (i365 Day 252) 2.0

The Art of War is a Chinese classic. The book is a systematic guide to strategy and tactics for rulers and commanders. It can be summarised in the axiom “Know the enemy and know yourself, and you can fight a hundred battles with no danger of defeat.” There is a famous saying quoted by millions of people. It says, “If all else fails, retreat.”

People face all kinds of problems and battles every day. The temptation of money is huge. Because of the love of money, many obscure and famous people ended up in prisons; and that’s why Paul warned his protégé about it. He reminded this young pastor to flee from the temptation of money and pursue godly character in return.

Let’s ponder his words.

Ponder

10For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. 11But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. (1 Timothy 6:10–11 NIV)

Pose

Let’s pose a question to God. “Dear Jesus, could You teach me how to flee from my temptation?”

Practice

Let’s practice what you learnt. Pray that you can know when to flee from temptation.

Proclaim

Let’s proclaim to others about your experiential knowledge. Share your victory over temptation with a new Christian.
