Is It That Bad? (i365 Day 246) 2.0

Throughout human history, some people see money and material things as evil. Because of that, many of them withdrew to the wilderness for the rest of their lives, hoping that they could escape from worldly temptation. The question I pose to you is this: “Are money and material possessions that bad?” My answer is an affirmative “no”!

Instead of being greedy for material possessions, we should be content with what we have. The Bible doesn’t forbid people to have money, but money shouldn’t be the love of our lives. Let’s ponder the words of Paul.

Ponder

8But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. 9Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. (1 Timothy 6:8–10 NIV)

Pose

Let’s pose a question to God. “Money and material possessions seem big to me, what should I do?”

Practice

Let’s practice what you learnt. Pray for the right perspective on money.

Proclaim

Let’s proclaim to others about your experiential knowledge. Share your new perspective on money with a colleague.
