A church leader warned several congregations in writing:
4Some godless people have sneaked in among us and are saying, “God treats us much better than we deserve, and so it is all right to be immoral.” They even deny that we must obey Jesus Christ as our only Master and Lord. But long ago the Scriptures warned that these godless people were doomed. (Jude 4 CEV)
We understand that there are wicked people existed everywhere, but we are puzzled to find godless people in churches. The author of Jude didn’t evade the fact that wicked people had crept into some congregations. Sadly, it isn’t just a historical tragedy, but a current and future issue that churches have to grapple with. Although it’s a terrifying thing, all Christians must stand on guard for our church families. Let’s ponder the teaching of Jude.
4For certain individuals whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord. (Jude 4 NIV)
Let’s pose a question to God. “Could you teach me how to stand on guard for your Church?”
Let’s practice what you learnt. Pray for the courage to stand on guard for your church family.
Let’s proclaim to others about your experiential knowledge. Share with a believer your determination of standing on guard for your church family.
