The Servant of the King (i365 Day 153) 2.0

In the secular world, some occupations are held in higher esteem than others. Usually people like to be served instead of serving others. However, the Apostle Paul has a different perspective on vocation. In the epistle to the Philippian church, he called himself a servant of Christ Jesus. The word “servant” in the original manuscript means slave. Paul didn’t see himself as a free person. He was willing to give up his freedom for his Lord and Saviour. To him, being a servant of Jesus Christ is an honour. Let’s ponder the words of Paul.

Ponder

1Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, To all God’s holy people in Christ Jesus at Philippi, together with the overseers and deacons: (Philippians 1:1 NIV)

Pose

Let’s pose a question to God. “Could You grant me the humility to serve You?”

Practice

Let’s practice what you learnt. Ask God to humble yourself and pray that you would feel honoured to serve Him.

Proclaim

Let’s proclaim to others about your experiential knowledge. Share with a fellow Christian that you are feeling honoured to serve Jesus Christ.
