Amid religious persecution, a Baptist pastor settled in a place which he called Providence. Providence is one of the oldest cities in America. Eventually it has become the capitol city of Rhode Island.

Alexander Maclaren says, “If God sends us on stony paths, He will provide us with strong shoes.” It is his way of declaring God’s providence. In the Bible, the writers often remind the readers of God’s provisions. Let’s ponder Psalm 85:12.
