You’ve Got a Friend (i365 Day 134) 2.0

In this day and age, many people might be proud of having countless online friends. Here’s a way to test their friendship: how would their online friends respond if they have a financial crisis? Walter Winchell says, “A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out.”

Under very trying conditions, all of his friends walked out on this old servant of Jesus Christ. As he understood human weaknesses, he didn’t want to blame them too much. Instead, he testified that he drew comfort from his best friend. Let’s ponder this experience of Paul.

Ponder

16At my first defense no one came to stand by me, but all deserted me. May it not be charged against them! 17But the Lord stood by me and strengthened me, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it. So I was rescued from the lion’s mouth. (2 Timothy 4:16–17 ESV)

Pose

Let’s pose a question to God. “As I am in pain now, can You come to my rescue?”

Practice

Let’s practice what you learnt. Treasure friendship but bear in mind that Jesus Christ is your best friend.

Proclaim

Let’s proclaim to others about your experiential knowledge. Talk to a non-believer about your friendship with Jesus Christ.
