Although he was a successful lawyer, he could not overcome his terrible drinking habit. His godly mother often prayed for his salvation, but she died without seeing her son’s conversion. Finally, an evangelist led him to faith in Christ. He was C. I. Scofield, a famous theologian and pastor of the last century. Scofield had a mother who prayed. There is also a praying woman in the Bible. Let’s ponder her story (1 Samuel 2:1–19 ESV).

¹And Hannah prayed and said, “My heart exults in the Lord; my horn is exalted in the Lord. My mouth derides my enemies, because I rejoice in your salvation. ²“There is none holy like the Lord: for there is none besides you; there is no rock like our God. (1 Samuel 2:1–2 ESV)
