Why Have You Abandoned Me? (i365 Day 102) 2.0

Around the world, there are thousands of newborn babies found abandoned on the streets. If they find out their own stories when they get older, as I can imagine, the pain of being abandoned by their birth parents are unbearable.

On the cross, Jesus Christ was abandoned by God because of the sins of all humankind (Matt. 27:46). This was another kind of abandonment because Jesus Christ voluntarily chose to obey God to die on the cross and redeem humans from the power of sin. The Saviour did it for the love of all of us!

Let’s ponder the words that Jesus spoke on the cross.

Ponder

46And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:46 ESV)

Pose

Let’s pose a question to God. “God, why did You abandon even Your only begotten Son?”

Practice

Let’s practice what you learnt. For the sins of all humankind, Jesus was abandoned by God on the cross. Thank Jesus for His love for us!

Proclaim

Let’s proclaim to others about your experiential knowledge. Share your new understanding about God’s love with a non-believing friend.
