There are seven progress reports on the spiritual and numerical growth of the church (2:47; 6:7; 9:31; 12:24; 16:5; 19:20; 28:30–31). In Acts 9:31, it indicates that the spiritual and numerical growth of the church are related to two things: believers were walking in the fear of the Lord and the comfort of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the Encourager or the Comforter of the church. He can minister directly to the church and He can also minister to the church through believers. 

Let’s ponder the words of Acts 9.

Ponder

³¹So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace and was being built up. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it multiplied. (Acts 9:31 ESV)

Let’s pose a question to God. “How can I channel Your comfort to my fellow Christians?”
