Every year millions of affluent people will spend a huge sum of money to renovate their houses. As for many families, they consider nicer kitchens, bathrooms or bedrooms would ensure them joy. It’s natural that new renovation would bring them satisfaction and joy, but the effect would only be short-term.
Most people’s happiness depends on circumstances, but the source of joy can also come from within. The Bible speaks of a joyous heart is good medicine. As you can see, the source of joy is from our hearts, therefore we need to have a renovation of our hearts from time to time. Let’s ponder Proverbs 17:22.
Ponder
22A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. (Proverbs 17:22 ESV)
Pose
Let’s pose a question to God. “My circumstances are so difficult; how can I have joy?”
Practice
Let’s practice what you learnt. Reflect on your heart’s condition and ask God to renovate it.
Proclaim
Let’s proclaim to others about your experiential knowledge. When you meet a friend who seems sad, share your spiritual renovation with him or her.
