It was quite a while ago, my wife bumped into a “believer”. She asked her what church did she attend. Funny enough, she didn’t even know the name of the church. Not knowing your own church might be hilarious, but the sad reality is that many so-called Christians aren’t sure of their own salvation. All self-professed Christians should be sure of their salvation. If followers of Christ aren’t certain if they are saved or not, for sure they will lose in their spiritual battle with the Evil One. And that’s why the Apostle Paul tells believers to put on the helmet of salvation. Let’s ponder God’s Word.
Ponder
17Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. (Ephesians 6:17 NIV)
Pose
Let’s pose a question to God. “Lord, how I can be sure of my own salvation?”
Practice
Let’s practice what you learnt. Study the following terms: the perseverance of the saints; eternal security; once saved, always saved; and the assurance of the believers. Reflect on how you became a Christian and make sure you are truly saved in Christ.
Proclaim
Let’s proclaim to others about your experiential knowledge. Help a believer who is unsure of their own salvation.
