People live for hope. All living souls on earth wish and pray that tomorrow will be a better day! When we look back, we reckon 2020 is bad enough; as the pandemic is still raging on, would 2021 be a better year? In the meantime, we are still facing climate change, economic downturn and political unrest around the world, can we be still be hopeful?
Like all other people in the world, Christians live for hope as well. Our hope is not wishful thinking because we place our faith in Jesus Christ. Hope and faith are interconnected. The author of Hebrews says,” Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.” (Hebrews 11:1 NLT) Because of our faith in our Lord and Saviour, we treat unseen things as realities, not mere wishes or hopes. As we have faith in the Lord of human history, we are sure and certain of unseen hopes and realities. One day, our hope for a perfect world will be fully realised, and that place is ‘Heaven’ (Revelation 21:1–2).
