Kangaroo (i365 Day 332) 2.0

When Captain James Cook and his team of explorers were exploring the coast of Australia in 1770, they were amazed by a strange animal. Sometimes the creature stood upright, braced firmly on its hind legs and huge tail. Occasionally, it jumped a long way. According to a well-known myth, Captain Cook and Sir Joseph Banks asked a native what the animals were called. The local responded “kangaroo”, which meant “I don’t know”.

The Israelites had a similar experience. While the Israelites were residing in the wilderness, God provided them food for forty years. When they saw these “bread from heaven” (Exodus 16:4), they asked one another, “What is it?” Later, they called it Manna (Exodus 16:31). Most probably, its name is derived from the question “What is it?” (man hu?) The story of Manna is about God’s provision and human disbelief. God is the provider of His people. Let’s ponder this story once again.

Ponder

15The Israelites were puzzled when they saw it. “What is it?” they asked each other. They had no idea what it was. And Moses told them, “It is the food the Lord has given you to eat. 16These are the Lord’s instructions: Each household should gather as much as it needs. Pick up two quarts for each person in your tent.” 20But some of them didn’t listen and kept some of it until morning. But by then it was full of maggots and had a terrible smell. Moses was very angry with them. (Exodus 16:15–16, 20 NLT)

Pose

Let’s pose a question to God. “Dear God, can You help me to trust in You all the time?”

Practice

Let’s practice what you learnt. Pray that you will trust in God all the time.

Proclaim

Let’s proclaim to others about your experiential knowledge. Share with a Christian your faith journey.
