When we do our grocery shopping, we would choose the best produce that we could find. However, we seldom think of the hard work of the farmers. Farmers are not glamorous professionals, but humble people who faithfully provide our daily needs.
Paul speaks of God’s workers as if they are farmers. He points out an important truth that God is the One who makes ministries grow. The giftedness of every servant is unique, but all God’s servants share the responsibilities of taking care of His Kingdom ministry. In God’s eyes, a pastor of a megachurch and a missionary of a small congregation are equally important. As God’s servants, we must see ourselves as humble farmers, who tend the fields of God’s Kingdom, and remember, God is the One who makes our work flourish.
Let’s ponder the reminder of Paul.

5What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, as the Lord assigned to each. 6I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. 7So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. 8He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his wages according to his labor. 9For we are God’s fellow workers. You are God’s field, God’s building. (1 Corinthians 3:5–9 ESV)
