Many sons still call their fathers for help. It happened the same to a thirty-three years old Cambridge University lecturer. His kayak was capsized in treacherous waters in southern England. Using his cell phone, he called his father, who was training British troops in Dubai 3,500 miles away. Immediately, his father dispatched his son’s mayday to the Coast Guard nearest to his son. Within twelve minutes, a helicopter came to rescue the man in distress.
It’s natural we don’t like distresses, but if we do encounter troubles big and small, we can always call our fathers for help. Better still, we can call our Heavenly Father for guidance and deliverance.
Let’s ponder Psalm 31:9.

9Be merciful to me, Lord, for I am in distress; my eyes grow weak with sorrow, my soul and body with grief. (Psalm 31:9 NIV)
Pose
Let’s pose a question to God. “I am in distress now. Dear Heavenly Father, could You help me?”
