In the ancient times, Roman soldiers are heavily geared with military equipment. They had fancy military footwear as protection as well. Their heavy sandals had soles made of several layers of leather studded with hollow-headed hobnails. These special footwear gave them stability.

The Apostle Paul used the Roman military equipment to illustrate the reality of spiritual warfare. Some Bible commentators regard spreading the gospel as a defensive means, but others see it otherwise (Ephesians 6:15). According to my understanding, it can be both.

While the spiritual battle rages on, the enemy of God will promote mayhem. As Christ followers, we must have a firm footing that the gospel provides, and we must always be prepared to advance the good news of Jesus Christ. Let’s ponder God’s Word.

Ponder

15For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. (Ephesians 6:15 NLT)

Pose

Let’s pose a question to God. “Spiritually, I feel so weak. Dear Lord, how can I stand firm in the midst of this evil spiritual war?”

Practice

Let’s practice what you learnt. Pray to be strong and ask God to grant you the opportunity of speaking the Truth.

Proclaim

Let’s proclaim to others about your experiential knowledge. If you are strengthened spiritually by spreading the gospel, grab the chance of telling your pastor, I’m sure he or she would be encouraged.
