People around the world talks about civil disobedience and even Christians follow suit. I must admit this is a hot topic and we must deal with it carefully!

Instead of civil disobedience, the Apostle Paul and Peter mentioned about civil obedience (1 Peter 2:12-15; Romans 13:1-7). Interestingly, they were living under an autocratic rule, and modern democracy didn’t exist back then.

Let’s ponder the words of Paul.

Ponder

1Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended. (Romans 13:1–3 NIV)

Pose

Let’s pose a question to God. “Lord, why did You inspire theApostles to speak about civil obedience?”

Practice

Let’s practice what you learnt. Observe the basic civil rules, such as driving according to the speed limit.

Proclaim

Let’s proclaim to others about your experiential knowledge. Share your new insight of civil obedience with a friend.
