Love and Obey (i365 Day 23) 2.0

What do parents expect from their children? According to a former assistant professor, first on her list is “Obedient child is the preferred one.” So, what is obedience? According to a dictionary’s definition, the meaning of obedience is to respect, honour, listen, and to pay attention. Interestingly, I came across a quote, saying, “Delayed obedience is disobedience.” No matter how old you are, I think your parents would expect you to obey them. If your parents think they are right, they would demand your immediate obedience. Let’s ponder God’s Word.

Ponder

1Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: 3 “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.” (Ephesians 6:1–3 NKJV)

Pose

Let’s pose a question to God. “Lord Jesus, why is obedience so hard to learn?”

Practice

Let’s practice what you learnt. Respect, honour, listen, and pay attention in your relationship with your parents.

Proclaim

Let’s proclaim to others about your experiential knowledge. Share your story of obedience with a person that you trust.
