19“Then I desired to know the truth about the fourth beast, which was different from all the rest, exceedingly terrifying, with its teeth of iron and claws of bronze, and which devoured and broke in pieces and stamped what was left with its feet,
20and about the ten horns that were on its head, and the other horn that came up and before which three of them fell, the horn that had eyes and a mouth that spoke great things, and that seemed greater than its companions. (Daniel 7:19–20 ESV)
2This beast looked like a leopard, but it had the feet of a bear and the mouth of a lion! And the dragon gave the beast his own power and throne and great authority. (Revelation 13:2 NLT)
5And the beast was given a mouth uttering haughty and blasphemous words, and it was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months. (Revelation 13:5 ESV)
13But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope.
14For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.
15For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep.
16For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.
17Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.
18Therefore encourage one another with these words. (1 Thessalonians 4:13–18 ESV)
People often say it is not what you say but how you say it. It is very true in the past and especially true now. In essence, non-verbal expressions like tone of voice, body language, and facial expressions are often more impactful in conveying a message than the speech itself. With a convincing tone of voice and coupled with a confident body language, dishonest individuals can successfully mislead their hearers with misinformation and disinformation.
I like watching documentaries. When I was a kid, I watched a lot of television programmes about the World War II. Although I don’t understand Russian, Italian, German and Spanish, I was intrigued by the clips of the dictators of the Second World War giving speeches. As you know, they were not men of truth but of deception. Sadly, millions were deceived and destroyed by these evil propagandists.
According to several Bible passages, the Antichrist is described as an exceptional orator with remarkable speaking abilities. Revelation 13:2 speaks of him as having “the mouth of a lion” (Revelation 13:2). This suggests that he has the regal authority with which he speaks. The Antichrist is called the beast who is the agent of Satan. The Devil will give him a mouth uttering haughty and blasphemous words (Revelation 13:5). Most probably, he will unceasingly utter blasphemies against God, Christ, Christians and the church. With exceptional speaking ability, he will attract and influence a large multitude of people. Sadly but truly, after the rapture of the Church, that is, the disappearance of genuine Christians on earth, the whole world will be swayed by the hypnotic spell of his words.
It is very true that public speaking remains a powerful tool for persuasion and societal change. However, numerous individuals who are gifted with good speaking and oratorical skills use them for their own gain. In many corners of the world, many folks do not question their leaders with great oratorical skills. All they do are blindly and faithfully follow their leaders.
One day the Antichrist with extraordinary oratorical power and skills will appear on earth. Definitely, he will deceive uncountable individuals and lead them to ultimate destruction. Jesus Christ is the Saviour of humanity, but on the contrary, the Antichrist is the most cruel person and ultimate destroyer of humankind. Dear friend, if you are still a non-believer, I sincerely ask you to become a Christian now. Receive Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour before it is too late!
