Antichrist? His Nationality?

London is a cosmopolitan city. In my early years,  I had the privilege of living in such a fascinating and multiracial metropolis. Because of this past experience, now, I can more or less tell a person’s nationality from his or her English accent.  Since people’s nationality links with their national beliefs, unique values and historical experiences, I think I can relate better with them.

What is the nationality of the Antichrist, have you ever thought about it before? What is the point of knowing his nationality? I can think of a few things. As Christians, we should stay alert and be watchful, thus there is a need to find out the place of his origin so that we would be aware of his traits and tactics. Moreover,  we should warn the world that a ghastly tyrant will come and he will unreservedly oppose God and cunningly deceive non-believers.

Is the Antichrist British? Is he French? Is he German? Is he Italian? Is he ethnically Jewish? Is he a non-Jew? Some argue that he is Jewish, and some insist that he is non-Jewish. However, up to now Bible scholars cannot agree on the nationality of the antichrist. 

In light of of the prefix “anti”,  as the Antichrist will make every effort to act as Jesus Christ as a false messiah, then it is very likely that he is Jewish. 

According to Jewish perspective, they see the sea as a symbol of chaos, instability and foreigners, thus some Bible scholars surmise that the Antichrist is a non-Jew (Daniel 7:3; Revelation 17:15). Additionally, numerous theologians and pastors insist that the Antichrist is not Jewish. One of their arguments is that the Antichrist is a ruler in the “times of the Gentiles”, indicating that he and the gentiles will dominate over Israel (Luke 21:24). 

On the first advent of Jesus Christ, for the sins of humankind, He came to die on the cross and rose from the dead on the third day. Both Luke and Matthew foretell the Second Advent of the Messiah (Luke 21:5–28;  Matthew 24:3–31), and He will come as the King of kings and the Lord of lords. However, just before Jesus Christ comes again, the revived Roman Empire will come into view (Daniel 7:8). Who will be ultimately in charge of this empire? The Antichrist. 

Although we cannot find out whether the Antichrist is Jewish or non-Jewish, we can for sure know he will be a key leader of the Western powers. Most probably, he comes from Europe, more specifically, from the revived Roman Empire.

Are you worried about the situation in Europe now? Can the war in Ukraine be escalated? Will it lead to a Third World War? Let’s hope not! No one knows what it will lead to! Western Europe is quite disunited and weak in many areas, and they are incapable of ending the war in Ukraine. A time will come that the Antichrist will unite Europe as part of a revived Roman Empire before he begins to rule over a global government. When the Antichrist appears, he will for sure bring temporary peace.   

I am not a prophet, but I can assure you is that Jesus Christ will come again and rule over the world. However, before He comes again, the Antichrist will appear and rule over non-believers and lead them to destruction. Definitely, Christians cannot be sure if the Antichrist is alive today, but the Bible affirms the Antichrist is going to come. 

Dear friends, give your life to the King of kings instead of submitting to Satan.
