1Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him, we ask you, brothers,

2not to be quickly shaken in mind or alarmed, either by a spirit or a spoken word, or a letter seeming to be from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come.

3Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction,

4who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God.

5Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things?

6And you know what is restraining him now so that he may be revealed in his time.

7For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work. Only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way.

8And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will kill with the breath of his mouth and bring to nothing by the appearance of his coming.

9The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders,

10and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. (2 Thessalonians 2:1–10 ESV)

Workplace politics are common and many people are trying to stay away from it but without any avail. In reality, numerous moral and hardworking employees have to deal with some of their hostile colleagues. Moreover, strangely but truly, some individuals merely like to create imaginary enemies and oppose them accordingly.

What are the common tactics that people employ to oppose a thorn in their flesh. Quite a lot of folks attack their enemies directly, but strategically. However, some people choose to attack their opponents indirectly. Some cunning people use deception. For example, they pretended they were weak and vulnerable in a particular area, so that their rivals would fall into their well-planned trap.

It is common for people to oppose one another. However, there will be a person appeared in the future, who chooses to oppose God in the extreme. Based on the Greek prefix anti, Antichrist has another meaning, which means opposition to Jesus Christ. In a sentence, the Antichrist is the utmost Christ-opposer.

The Antichrist is a crony puppet of Satan and he is the chosen one who opposes the triune God in the extreme. According to the prophetic word of the apostle Paul, all genuine followers of Jesus Christ will disappear from the earth one day. In short, true Christians will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord Jesus in the air (1 Thessalonians 4:16–17). Evangelical Christians call it the Rapture. After the disappearance of the genuine Church, the Antichrist will finally appear and will commence his plans against God in the end times.

Opposing Jesus Christ, in a broad sense, means rejecting or disagreeing with His teachings and identity. It is often viewed as a rejection of the Christian faith itself. Throughout church history, Satan has used all kinds of people and means to oppose God and Jesus Christ. Definitely, Satan, the fallen archangel, attempts to do everything to stop God’s plan of salvation from advancing.

Brothers and sisters in Christ, anti-Christian sentiment is on the rise everyday. Like it or not, the spirit of opposing Jesus Christ and His church is getting stronger and stronger. In the past, anti-Christian feeling has frequently led to the persecution of Christians. Sadly but truly, under the evil influence of Satan, people will despise and even curse God shortly before His Second Coming (Revelation 16:21). Let’s pray for this non-believing generation that they can taste the goodness and experience the love of Jesus Christ.

Dear friends, you might be offended by the teachings of Jesus Christ. Definitely, you dislike and oppose Christianity for various reasons; however, I pray and hope you will find more time to understand Jesus Christ. The best way is to start reading the first four books of the New Testament so that you can understand more about the record of Jesus’ life and teaching. My wish and prayer is that you would become a Christian one day.
