Various Views on AI
Artificial intelligence is one of the hottest topics these days. Countless scientists and entrepreneurs are fascinated by the prospects and the future that AI might bring. A large number of people including the politicians regard AI as a hot potato. A great deal of scholars talk about the potential and existing dangers of AI and one of the many risks is the spreading of disinformation and misinformation by AI.
The Dangers of Disinformation and Misinformation
Disinformation and Misinformation can manipulate people’s emotions. Disinformation and misinformation can instil all kinds of emotions in a person’s mind, such as sadness, happiness and despondency, etc.
Disinformation and misinformation can also instigate people to violence and various senseless deeds. All in all, evil individuals, such as authoritarian governments, terrorists and criminals, can weaponise AI. According to my speculation, I think the antichrist will certainly make use of AI when he appears in the political and religious arena, because he can use it to spread his falsehoods.
News agencies cover important events, news, politics, weather, sports and entertainment. As for social media, all users can create, share, and exchange information and content with others. Sadly, mass media is a tool used by authoritarian governments, terrorists and criminals. And no wonder some individuals say mass communication is a king”, and others state that social media is a king. Based on my own observation, the above statements are very true, because a person’s thoughts, emotions and behaviours can be manipulated by the information one receives through mass media.
Journalism should be based on truth and facts, but sadly, a great number of news agencies and social medias don’t care about any facts and the truth of any matter.
Spreading disinformation or fake news is a piece of cake nowadays. On social media you can write a post and call a certain person a tyrant or dictator, but you don’t have to provide any facts to back it up. If any naive individuals read and believe it, not only that, they forward it to their friends, this piece of disinformation will spread like wild fire.
The God of Truth
18so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us. (Hebrews 6:18 ESV)
6Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6 ESV)
Since God is the God of truth, He cannot lie. Jesus Christ explicitly states that He is the truth. Interestingly, the Lord Jesus points out the Devil is the father of lies (John 8:44). In other words, Satan is the original liar.
When people tell a lie, they immediately associate themselves with the father of lies. In the Book of Revelation, Jesus Christ, the Alpha and the Omega, declares all liars have no place in heaven, and hell are their final destination.
Like I said before, when the antichrist appears in the future, he will definitely spread disinformation, and most probably, he will employ AI as one of his many means to achieve that.
It is appalling that we are bombarded by all kinds of disinformation and misinformation on a daily basis. Dear friends, if you want to learn more about life’s truths and the truths about God, the Bible is a very good source. The Bible is the Book of truth, and one of the uncountable truths that it proclaims is that God loves us and He wants to be our Father. Becoming a child of God is easy, all you have to do is to receive Jesus Christ as God’s Son and Saviour.
Finally, let me speak to my fellow Christians. Beware of the dangers of misinformation. Factchecking is very important. Don’t forward unverified information and info from dubious sources to anybody. Instead of spreading misinformation, we should spread God’s truths.
