In many parts of the world, citizens have the rights to choose their own political leaders. When it comes to voting in election of leaders, what criteria would they have in mind? Should they vote for the person our neighbours and friends see fit for the job? Casting a vote is a sacred act and they shouldn’t take it lightly.
No doubt Moses is a great leader. After studying the passage of Exodus 32, I would call him a selfless and patriotic leader. Most importantly, he’s a Godly leader who looks after the wellbeing of his countrymen.
Let’s ponder Exodus 32.
Ponder
30The next day Moses said to the people, “You have committed a great sin. But now I will go up to the Lord; perhaps I can make atonement for your sin.” 31So Moses went back to the Lord and said, “Oh, what a great sin these people have committed! They have made themselves gods of gold. 32But now, please forgive their sin—but if not, then blot me out of the book you have written.” (Exodus 32:30–32 NIV)
Pose
Let’s pose a question to God. “Dear God, could You raise up more selfless and patriotic leaders all over the world?”
Practice
Let’s practice what you learnt. Pray that God will raise up more selfless and patriotic leaders all over the world.
Proclaim
Let’s proclaim to others about your experiential knowledge. Share your insight on selfless and patriotic leaders with other Christians, and encourage them to pray likewise.
