Bible Roulette (i365 Day 232)

After a job interview, a Christian was offered the job. He wanted to seek God’s plan for him, but he didn’t know what to do. Although he went to church on a regular basis, he didn’t have the habit of praying and reading the Bible. Out of desperation, he opened his Bible randomly. The words in red caught his eyes: “What you are about to do, do quickly.” (John 13:27) Do you think God spoke to him?
There’s a name for picking verses at random for guidance, this ritual is called “Bible roulette”. God loves to speak to human beings but please don’t play Bible roulette. If you are determined to hear His voice, read the Bible regularly, and He will for sure speak to you.
Let’s ponder the words of the psalmist.
Ponder: 7Hear my voice when I call, Lord; be merciful to me and answer me. 8My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, Lord, I will seek. 9Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger; you have been my helper. Do not reject me or forsake me, God my Savior. (Psalm 27:7–9 NIV)
Post: Let’s post a question to God. “Dear Jesus, could You speak to me by means of my daily Bible reading?”
Practice: Let’s practice what you learnt. Pray that you can hear God’s voice in your Bible reading.
Proclaim: Let’s proclaim to others about your experiential knowledge. After a small group meeting, share your experience with other members.
