As Jesus Christ firmly declared that He would overcome death before His death on the cross (Matthew 17:23), the Roman and Jewish authority ordered guards to watch over His grave so that His disciples couldn’t steal His body (Matthew 27:62–65).
The Bible clearly depicts the tomb of Jesus was empty. His disciples didn’t steal His body. The tomb was empty because Jesus has risen from the dead. The risen Christ wasn’t just a historical fact but an experiential reality, as all Christ followers can experience His spiritual presence on a daily basis. Let’s ponder Matthew 27:62–65.
Ponder: 62The next day, that is, after the day of Preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered before Pilate 63and said, “Sir, we remember how that impostor said, while he was still alive, ‘After three days I will rise.’ 64Therefore order the tomb to be made secure until the third day, lest his disciples go and steal him away and tell the people, ‘He has risen from the dead,’ and the last fraud will be worse than the first.” 65Pilate said to them, “You have a guard of soldiers. Go, make it as secure as you can.” (Matthew 27:62–65 ESV)
Post: Let’s post a question to God. “Dear Jesus, can I experience Your spiritual presence now?”
Practice: Let’s practice what you learnt. Pray that you can experience the risen Christ in your workplace today.
Proclaim: Let’s proclaim to others about your experiential knowledge. Share your experience of the risen Saviour with a nonbeliever.
