When I was a young believer, I heard a pastor used the following illustration in his sermon, “Some Christians went to church only three times in their lives – to be baptized as an infant, to get married as an adult, and to attend their own funeral.” This is an illustration to point out that there are so many cultural Christians in this world! Cultural Christians are individuals who happen to live in a nation with a Christian heritage.
What’s one of the significant marks of a genuine Christian? If you refer to Psalm 119:57-64, one of the many traits is their devotion to God’s Word. With all their heart, they would obey God’s truths. Let’s refer to His own words.
Ponder: 57The Lord is my portion; I promise to keep your words. 58I entreat your favor with all my heart; be gracious to me according to your promise. (Psalm 119:57–58 ESV)
Post: Let’s post a question to God. “How can I have the determination to devote to Your truths?”
Practice: Let’s practice what you learnt. Pray for the determination to devote to God’s truths.
Proclaim: Let’s proclaim to others about your experiential knowledge. Share an incident that you obeyed a biblical truth with a believer.
