“Retirement, me?” Workaholics dislike it! As some people don’t like to reveal their age, they shy away from talking about it with others. Life has to move on. Retirement is a natural life stage that everyone has to deal with eventually.
Some pastors and church leaders reckon they should never retire, but interestingly, the Bible talks about the retirement of the Levites. As God’s servants, we can retire from our positions, and continue serving Him in another capacity.
Ponder: 23And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 24 “This applies to the Levites: from twenty-five years old and upward they shall come to do duty in the service of the tent of meeting. 25And from the age of fifty years they shall withdraw from the duty of the service and serve no more. 26They minister to their brothers in the tent of meeting by keeping guard, but they shall do no service. Thus shall you do to the Levites in assigning their duties.” (Numbers 8:23–26 ESV)
Post: “Dear God, I am still young, but could You reveal Your plans for me when I reach retirement age?”
Practice: Prepare your heart and be more open to God’s leading in your retirement plan.
Proclaim: Share your retirement plans and dreams with a loved one.
